The population of Rush is approximately 3,500 residents and it is set in the southern part of Monroe County. It was first established in the early 1800s and was a sleepy farm town for many decades. The historic Rush Town Hall was built in 1935 and is a key landmark today. In the latter half of the 20th century, residential and commercial development in Rush increased as people moved to the suburbs from Rochester. Today, Rush is a tranquil community with many amenities in the form of shops, services, parks, schools and more.

Rush is surrounded by a number of fine cities and towns like Henrietta, West Henrietta, Mendon, Honeoye Falls, West Rush and Industry, just to name a few. Major roads include I-90 and Route 251, among others. Rush is only 12 miles south of downtown Rochester, so residents can easily access the large city for school, work or recreation.

Rush is comprised of many different neighborhoods, hamlets and notable landmarks. These include Manns Corner, North Rush, West Rush, Meadow Corner, Industry and Meadow Wood. The Honeoye Creek courses through the center of town, providing both beauty and recreation.
